About Stephanie

Stephanie Harrison is a Supervisee in Social Work under the Virginia Board of Social Work and currently practices under the supervision of Olga Montgomery, LCSW.

Her professional background includes mental health, finance, and the biotech industries, with a focus on access to care, disease-state education, and the intersection of systems, behavior, and decision-making. Stephanie has worked with adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations in a variety of settings, including community-based care, inpatient psychiatric units, detoxification programs, and dual-diagnosis treatment. She is deeply passionate about supporting individuals navigating perfectionism, feelings of inadequacy, substance misuse, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, and the lasting effects of childhood sexual abuse.

Stephanie has a particular interest in working with individuals who are in recovery or striving toward it. She believes recovery is a deeply personal process that looks different for everyone. While recovery may involve healing from the misuse of alcohol or drugs, it can also relate to behaviors such as shopping, gambling, sex, social media use, or other patterns that feel out of alignment. If a maladaptive behavior is interfering with the life you want to live, Stephanie offers a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore it.

As a Certified Financial Social Worker with prior experience in business and finance, Stephanie brings a unique perspective to understanding the emotional and relational aspects of money. She specializes in helping individuals process the emotional complexities of finances, including power dynamics, impulse control, and the challenges that can arise from actual or anticipated involuntary financial transitions related to the “5 D’s”: death, disability, divorce, distress, and disagreement. If you feel that your emotions are managing your finances rather than the other way around, this space offers support and clarity. Please note that this work focuses on emotional and behavioral patterns and does not include investment advice.

Stephanie takes a strength-based, resilience-oriented approach to therapy. She integrates solution-focused and motivational interventions, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based practices, radical acceptance, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients change maladaptive patterns and build meaningful, lasting change. She works collaboratively and without judgment to help clients define goals and create lives aligned with their values. She also offers flexible, nontraditional hours to better accommodate those who find it difficult to prioritize self-care during the standard workday.

Outside of her professional work, Stephanie is a proud mother of two sons—one a Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force Reserves who is attending nursing school, and the other a Master Diver with the Coral Restoration Foundation. She enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with friends and family, especially when it includes laughter and meaningful connection.

Stephanie is also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART) and looks forward to offering this modality to her clients.
